a multi-format artwork, reflecting on the presence of trees
often so present as to be overlooked, the trees on this world create, sustain, and surround the composition of human life.
a study led by yale university in 2015 numbered this world's trees at 3.04 trillion
or
about 422 trees for every human.
this artwork visually represents that ratio.
in this iteration, 422 circles of 1" diameter cut from topographic maps of pennsylvania woodlands scatter across a wall. within them, a lone 1" mirror reflects nearby light and the movement of the viewer as the wall is approached.
